I can feel Obama on this. I was in the Navy, I had some college, and i have worked with several local and regional scholars. Yet I can safely say that it was in the streets of NYC that I got my best education. It was not selling drugs however like most would think. it was learning from the hard working folks who tried to make our community a better one each day.

Obama's relationship to the church and to faith are as genuine as most folk. What I question are the inevitable compromises he made to place himself in the position he finds himself in today.

One thing that is clear about Pastor Wright is that he has looked into the eyes and into the soul of this brotha and approves of what he sees. That speaks well of Barack.

Moreover, I think that Barack loves him like a father figure and the Pastor has reciprocated. There is genuine affection and trust there. That's a good thing.

However, none of that will keep me from being critical when the Senator's actions provoke me.

The article implies- to me at least - that Obama used his relationship with Reverend Wright and the Trinity Church to gain skills to further his political ambitions.

While I don't think that assessment is completely off the mark, I thank you for giving me another perspective.

wow..this is pretty heavy...ima have to come back and get into this some more...good stuff.

That said, hopefully you could use italics or color to distinguish THEIR commentary from yours...I got a bit confused.

Thanks for that all the same.
